I Still Save a Spot for Him”: Rosalie May’s Fishing Story Brings AGT Audience to Tears

LOS ANGELES — An emotional silence fell over the America’s Got Talent theater when young contestant Rosalie May stepped onto the stage and shared a deeply personal story about her beloved grandfather.

With a gentle smile, Rosalie began describing the countless mornings they spent together by the water. According to her, her grandfather loved fishing more than anything and never missed an opportunity to take her along.

“He always said the fish liked talking to us,” Rosalie recalled, drawing laughter from the audience. “Even when we didn’t catch anything, Grandpa said it was still a perfect day.”

She painted a picture of peaceful sunrises, quiet conversations, and the special bond they built while sitting side by side on an old wooden dock.

But the mood shifted when Rosalie revealed that her grandfather had passed away.

“The last time we went fishing, he told me to keep coming back to our favorite spot,” she said softly. “He said some memories are too important to leave behind.”

The audience listened in complete silence as Rosalie explained that she still visits the lake whenever she can.

“I bring two chairs,” she said, her voice trembling. “One for me… and one for Grandpa.”

The heartbreaking admission left many in tears. Audience members reached for tissues, while the judges appeared visibly emotional. Even Simon Cowell struggled to hide his feelings as Rosalie continued her tribute.

“Sometimes I look at the empty chair and imagine him telling one of his silly fishing stories,” she said. “For a moment, it feels like he’s still there.”

The theater remained quiet until Rosalie shared one final memory.

“Grandpa always told me that love is like fishing line,” she said. “You might not always see it, but it’s still connected.”

The crowd erupted into applause, with many rising to their feet. What started as a simple story about fishing became a powerful reminder of love, loss, and the memories that stay with us long after someone is gone.

As Rosalie wiped away a tear and smiled toward the audience, there was hardly a dry eye in the room.

“I still save a spot for him,” she whispered.

And in that moment, an entire theater seemed to understand exactly why. 🎣💔😭
